Panmure Island Provincial Park and Campground - July 2018

Panmure Island Beach, only 20 minutes from Montague, is one of the beaches we go to every summer. This year we booked a week at Panmure Island Provincial Park Campground and really enjoyed it.  The campground is split either side of Highway 347 (really just a road, not a highway). We were camped on the site 33 with a view onto St. Mary's Bay.  The main beach as well as the lighthouse are on the Northumberland Strait.

Scott has bad memories of swimming classes in St. Mary's Bay. Early in the season he remembers the water being very cold. To avoid having to participate he would find the closest jelly fish (we didn't see many when we were there this time), get stung on purpose and be allowed to sit out.  He did like that they got a can of pop, which was a very special treat. It would be frozen and wrapped in newspaper to keep it and the lunch cool.

Great little restaurant on the beach. All the basics during the day and then a nicer menu after 5 pm.
Chef is from Quebec and the food was great.

We met Diane, Keith (not in picture - sorry Keith) and their dog Sachi camping next door.
They traveled across Canada from Vancouver Island to the Maritimes.
Another couple we hope to meet again.

Campground Specific Info: Panmure Provincial Park Campground has 43 sites, 21 of which offer 2-way service (water/electric, no sewer), the rest are rustic, no service sites. We recommend sites 29 - 37 and of those the ones in the middle are best.  Two sites share services and I've marked the service posts with dots to help. The sites are fairly generous in size and some people park sideways. They aren't overly level and slope up to the back, towards the washrooms. Washroom / Shower facilities are good.
