Panmure Island Provincial Park and Campground - July 2018
Panmure Island Beach, only 20 minutes from Montague, is one of the beaches we go to every summer. This year we booked a week at Panmure Island Provincial Park Campground and really enjoyed it. The campground is split either side of Highway 347 (really just a road, not a highway). We were camped on the site 33 with a view onto St. Mary's Bay. The main beach as well as the lighthouse are on the Northumberland Strait.

Scott has bad memories of swimming classes in St. Mary's Bay. Early in the season he remembers the water being very cold. To avoid having to participate he would find the closest jelly fish (we didn't see many when we were there this time), get stung on purpose and be allowed to sit out. He did like that they got a can of pop, which was a very special treat. It would be frozen and wrapped in newspaper to keep it and the lunch cool.
View over the dunes to the lighthouse on the strait.
Great little restaurant on the beach. All the basics during the day and then a nicer menu after 5 pm. Chef is from Quebec and the food was great.
Scott voted this the best seafood chowder all summer
Fun visit from Pam, Trevor and Emily with their kayaks.

Scott happy to have found a Service Berry (or Saskatoon Berry) tree bearing fruit on our bike ride.
We met Diane, Keith (not in picture - sorry Keith) and their dog Sachi camping next door. They traveled across Canada from Vancouver Island to the Maritimes. Another couple we hope to meet again.
