Heading East to Prince Edward Island (June 18, 2018 departure)

For years we had rushed "home" to Prince Edward Island on our annual vacation, often driving straight through or just stopping for a quick overnight. Finally there was time to take it a little easier.

First stop was at Sandbanks Provincial Park. A beautiful and very popular park, it can be hard to get a spot in July and August. June isn't as tough and we stayed a couple of nights.  A very good friend of mine since Grade 9 Debbie, came out to visit for the day with her partner Bob and pooch.

We loved hiking in the dunes paths.

Tanner needed some water after lots of walking

We left Sandbanks heading to the 401 East. Scott saved the route to the Co-pilot App we subscribe to. There is a free version however the version for RV's, allowing us to enter the height and weight of the vehicle to avoid low overpasses and weight restricted roads, does require a subscription. The app allows us to download a route while connected to the internet but then use it without the internet during the trip. We can also add stops along the way.

There was a glitch in the software on this trip which caused a fair amount of stress along with some damage. Basically, we had marked a stop on the way. When we left the system was trying to take us back to that same stop, not having acknowledged that we had already been there. Confused we followed the system and ended up backtracking slightly which wouldn't have been too bad if tensions in the motor home hadn't already been as high.  We ended up arguing over the directions then driving too fast over an extremely bumpy railway track which caused the printer which was sitting unsecured up in the old TV box spot between the 2 front seats,  to fly out and crash between us, narrowly missing my foot. We might have ended our trip there and for good if cooler heads hadn't prevailed and we chalked it up to experience.

It may be a strange story to share but we wouldn't want you to think that every moment of the trip is fun in the sun. Life continues.

A couple of nights in "de la Republique Provincial Park" and adjoining the Botanical Gardens

The "de la Republique Provincial Park" Campground is just inside the New Brunswick border in Edmunston. We've stopped here before with the kids and thought it would be a great place to spend a few days. The adjoining Botanical Gardens have stunning floral sculptures and are a treat to explore. It was a bit early for full blooms but we enjoyed every bit of it. The bison at the entrance is one of my favorites.

Fantastic Floral Sculptures
