Week 5 - Shed is Shingled - Scott had a Building Buddy

Thank you to all of you who are following our  house renovating adventures. I enjoy doing this as a record for ourselves but also love the feedback.

Sunday night, the almost full moon was gorgeous reflecting off the water. A bit tough to get a good picture on the phone... might bring out the good camera next time... but loved it anyway.

Ken has been a bit antsy and looking for something to do so he offered to help us this week and WOW!! did that help. Scott was dreading doing the shed roof but between the two of them he plywood was all up on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday got it shingled and on Thursday the gables went up. Sometimes it's easy enough to work on your own but this was really the best week for Scott to have a building buddy.  Sometimes it's a lot easier with two people, physically and mentally.

A HUGE THANK YOU KEN!!

A local farmer leases the 10ish acres in front of the house along with other properties nearby. He came and planted this week. Soybeans are this years crop for him.

The weather was incredible all week until Friday. A day off by then wasn't at all bad. Scott's body in particular needed the break. It poured all night, all day and most of the next night. We expected about 3 inches of rain. I'm pretty sure we got it and we ended up with lake front property. LOL!!

My contribution was more of the same. We can now see through the house upstairs from any corner to any other corner.  Saturday we worked together with Scott up in the attic passing down all the crap left up there... boxes, old skates, a fair pile of wood and then shoveling most of the insulation out. There wasn't as much as there should be which was great. I took down the plaster on the ceilings of 2 rooms which came down fairly easily once. The worst thing about these jobs is the dust and it's hard to see out of your glasses which fog up when wearing a mask.

Last weekend we bought a screen tent and have been enjoying it all week. It wasn't the strongest construction but the best we could find on short notice locally. With all the wind we get there was some concern about how it would hold up. Well, it didn't. Winds howled on Friday night and it was a shambles.

Finally for this week I have a move recommendation. It you enjoy a bit of Bollywood and are maybe a bit of a foodie this movie was a lot of fund. Found it at the library. We both liked it.

Sunday... is fun day. We tried to fix our screen tent to no avail. We'll be able to use the screen top and walls, just need to find some time to knock that together.
Evelyn and Ken are heading off to Nova Scotia next week so we invited them over for a little tour of the area including a stop at Panmure Beach which Scott says wasn't as cold as it looked.
Also picked up Veda. The plan was to enjoy the outdoors however it was a bit windy so we went inside and got comfy. Fun end to the week.
