It's all about the weather until we get closed in and we're learning to ignore the forecast and just go with the flow. Wednesday was supposed to be a washout and we considered taking it off in place of working Saturday but it ended up great. We worked Saturday as well so it was a productive week. It's not that we can't work inside, more that we get tired but overall we're pretty focused and determined to get 'er done.

| Getting ready to rassle more Tyvek up |
The Tyvek on this side is more than a little piecemeal and to even upside down in some spots to Scott's dismay but it was a feat getting this stuff on in the wind and once past the first row by himself. One strange thing was how extremely noisy this particular Tyvek was. To a point that hearing protection would have been a good idea. In the end, it's up and will be covered by wooden shingles next year. We are happy for the new, much sturdier and tall ladder we bought. Couldn't have done without it.

| There were a lot of trips on and down ladders inside and out |

| Windows in - Woohoo!! |
With the West wall done it was on to the North wall. Over time the earth around the house had built up and touching it resulting in a lot of rot in the bottom 1-2 feet of original shingles and wood. We replaced it as we went. Fun fact - weather barrier used when the house was built consisted of birch bark and fertilizer bags.

Sadly I have no photos or video of us getting this Typar (similar to Tyvek but the store didn't have any which turned out to be a blessing - way less noisy and easier to handle in my opinion). It was quite a show and definitely a feat. I'd come up with the idea to secure a piece of batting to the one side (right on photo). With one screw at the bottom I was holding the the wood against the wall while Scott rolled it out in extreme wind (it is very often windy here and we'd never get anywhere if we waited). All went well until he got to the corner on the left. The wind caught the roll. It was pretty much like a giant 30 foot long kite. Me struggling to keep the batting against the house and Scott swearing up a storm but eventually managing to control the roll, cut it loose and nail it to the house, swearing all the way. It may surprise some of you (certainly not all) but I'm more likely to swear than Scott. In this case though, I just held on for dear life and kept my mouth shut (I know.. hard to believe) and it all worked out.
Would definitely have made a great video but my hands were full!!!

| After all the action - Typar secured |

| Door cut out |
 |
| Door and window from inside |
The back (North) wall only has one door and one window, both part of the mudroom / laundry room. Stairs will be going up on the left side so no windows there.
 |
| Back door set in place - there will be a couple of steps to a small porch when we get that far |
 |
| Door and window - view from inside. The covered in "window" to the right was an original window. |
 |
| Securing dormer window. I held on from inside until Scott got it secured outside. |

That's a wrap for the North wall.
I've taken all the siding I could get at off the East and South ready for the next week.
Totally off topic - Last week we met one of our neighbours at their garage sale. They told us about an PEI Auction company they had gotten some furniture from. They conduct online auctions only. As it turned out, there was an auction on Thursday evening and we had some fun bidding on a few things. We ended up with canoe making forms $4.00 (a dream of Scott's for the future far away), a contraption for rug hooking or quilting $4.00 (a dream of mine for the future far away) and a few other items including a commode. I like it for a stool however it might be useful when my sister and husband visit in a couple of weeks for any overnight urges. I'll wait and see what she thinks.

Commode cover getting a bit ratty - may replace it |
