Relies from Calgary Visit - Blueberries in Season (August 12 - 18, 2019)

Work halted somewhat this week in favour of spending a few days with Scotts brother Ron, wife, Hermon and three boys, Luke, Micah and Ethan. They flew in from Calgary late Sunday..turned out to be Monday morning with a delay in Toronto.  We knew they'd be tired so Scott worked on the house some while I did some work in the motorhome and picked the first wild flavour punch packing blueberries off a small patch in the backyard. Yum!!

Later in afternoon we met up with Ron and family at Veda's then hit Panmure Island Beach. Beaches are a great option when tired and jet-lagged.

The next day we headed in to Charlottetown and met up at Aunt Eleanor and Uncle Geralds'. The boys loved climbing the tree out front and enjoyed Eleanors cookies.

Wednesday was a quintessential PEI summer day which was perfect for a trip to Basin Head. The weather, water and company were perfect. I tried to get more pictures of the guys jumping in but they were more interested in jumping and had a great time.

Back in Montague we met up with sister Pam at Matt's place where a pile of cousins got to meet up. The last time Ron's kids were here was 6 years ago and most were too young to remember.

Thursday and back to work for Scott. He had a rough, frustrating morning with everything going wrong while he was trying to fix the tractor. Ended up breaking and ordering a part so it was on to bricking up the original stairway to the basement.

I was up at 6 to get Veda in to Charlottetown for an x-ray on her thyroid. We'll get the results in a couple of weeks. Hopefully nothing serious.

Friday we both worked. Scott pulled up the remaining plywood and I scraped at the original oil cloth which almost disintegrated into the flooring. Still trying to reuse this floor so it needs to come off.
As at other times, we're feeling the pressure of fall and winter flying towards us and needing to get the house closed in. We are resolved to keep going one day at a time. With our "vacation" over we should get back into the grove this week.

The oilcloth was colourful and beautiful when the house was originally built.
To help get back on track we took the weekend off (outside of a some more outside cleanup and a dump run Saturday morning).  It is Old Home Week (akin to the CNE Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto but on a more local scale) so we headed in with Veda Saturday.
There was a fantastic sand carving to commemorate the week.

The 50 Plus Club Veda is a member of entered a "Grandmothers Garden" Quilt in the exhibition and won first prize in their category.  It is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted.
The quilt will be raffled off later on.

Mr.Domino (Who knew) was there and put on a great show. Once the train knocked the stick which knocked over the first domino it took about 6 minutes for the whole display to fall. That's a lot of Dominos and planning.  Fun to watch .... I found myself holding my breath a couple of times.

Grand Finale - Card Fall

We also watched some horse racing, horse jumping, a variety of other animals, music and of course enjoyed an ice cream purchased in support of Children's Wish ... maybe a little self-serving.
Geez, we seem to eat a lot of ice cream.

Sunday was low key outside of a quick good bye visit from Ron and Family who had been to Halifax and Fredericton as part of their vacation. Also a nice visit from Aunt Eleanor and Uncle Gerald who hadn't seen the house yet. We are fresh and ready for a good week.
Bring it on!!
